It's always nice when a stereo track pretends to be a true 5.1 mix. Languages and Audio Audio choices are English Dolby Digital 5.1 with Spanish and English subtitle options.

I wish this were a better transfer, for the fans' sake, but it just isn't up to par, nearly comparable to the VHS-ripped DVD transfers for Lionsgate's Ninja Turtles releases. Encode glitches appear every now and then as well, particularly during races. It's fuzzy, as though somewhat out of focus. If you read my review above, you know that's not the case. Given the fancy CG artwork on the box, I expected this release to be a fine blend of 2-D animation and 3-D CG work.

Score: 3 out of 10 Video and Presentation Speed Racer - The Next Generation: Comet Run is presented in 1.33:1 full frame. But somehow I think if they could talk, they'd just ask if they can watch something else instead. Speed Racer - The Next Generation: Comet Run isn't going to appeal to many fans, but it might make a fine babysitter for tots not yet capable of talking.
#SPEED RACER THE NEXT GENERATION SERIES#
Isn't this series supposed to be about action and speed? Here, the races are kept to a minimum and when they do appear, they're almost worse than the dialogue patches, thanks again to the horrible melding of 2-D and 3-D animation. By the end, I felt as though I'd sat through a two-hour movie. The rest of the narrative is bloated, even at 63 minutes. It makes the dialogue in the original episodes seem Oscar worthy. His thin, self-explanatory dialogue is even worse. Even Speed's voice is tiresome and annoying – never commanding the show. Every voice here shrills at top volume as though the actors performed their roles while high on helium. You could close your eyes, but unfortunately, the horrid voice cast fueling the characters would still drive out that headache. The whole spectacle is simply embarrassing to watch. Blending the two elements together is almost headache inducing as the 3-D CG cars look flat and one-dimensional compared to the wonky, terribly inactive 2-D animation.

The CG used here is worse than a bad PS2 game and the 2-D animation is just a notch above low-grade Flash, like something used for Hallmark online greeting cards or Aqua Teen Hunger Force (at least that show is funny). While the film does sort of give audiences this blend – the result is not very appealing to the eye. Judging by the DVD box only, I expected a decent meld of 2-D animation, for the characters, and 3-D computer-generated cars. Comet Run is just an awful example of animation. Of course, tiresome plotting, bad dialogue, bad voice acting and horrid animation follow. Has this guy ever followed Speed's track record? It's not like he's going to lose. Most of the backstory is sidetracked in Comet Run in order to focus on the film's lamebrain plot, which involves an egotistic trillionaire who challenges Speed to a winner-takes-all three-day race. There is no doubt that this motorcycle has evolved beautifully. The "film" (I'm not sure if it can be called that because it only runs one hour) takes place in the future and details the exploits of Speed Racer's son as he follows in his father's footsteps. The modern versions of the bike combine the power of a reliable and technologically advanced engine and parts, with the classic style of the first model created in 1959. The original Triumph Bonneville is an undisputed icon in the motorcycle industry. There are also multiple custom features and accessories available, to create a truly unique motorcycle, while still upholding the Triumph Bonneville style. It also features a clean straight-line header pipe run, followed by a twin peashooter style exhaust, creating a distinctive sound that matches the character of the motorcycle. Powered by a 1200cc, high torque engine, the motorcycle handles smoothly and responsively, while still providing fast speed that every rider desires. The Triumph Bonneville has always been known for its strength. The name Bonneville comes from Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, USA. The present models are designed differently and are more evolved than the original model, but they still greatly resemble it. The third generation started in 2001 in Hinckley, Leicestershire and continues to this day.
